An alternative way of re-shaping the nose involves a small external incision under the base of the nose combined with internal incisions. This technique, called the external rhinoplasty approach, may be better suited to people in whom the tip of the nose is broad or bulbous, or where more complex techniques are necessary to suture or graft the cartilages of the nose.

After rhinoplasty surgery, patients can expect some degree of temporary bruising in the eyelids. Furthermore, a light protective splint protects the nose during the first few days following surgery. Dr. Davidson shares his patient's goal that the new nasal shape is natural and attractive and specializes in achieving these outcomes.
