About
Botox
Botox
is a highly purified protein which may be injected into
certain facid muscles to relax them. This reduces or eliminates
the active creases which are caused by muscle contraction.
It does not eliminate deep passive lines or folds. Passive
creases may be filled in using Collagen or Restylane at
the same session. Botox has become the state-of-the-art
treatment for unappealing forehead wrinkles, frown lines
between the eyebrows and crows feet.
We
know that repetitive motion or contraction of the underlying
muscles causes facial creases. However, with the use of
Botox, we can promote weakness in these muscles so that
they produce fewer contractions, thereby reducing fine
lines and wrinkles. Although this procedure is not a permanent
solution to this problem, its effects may last up to four
months (or longer). Important to note, is that it is a
relatively simple, quick and nearly painless procedure.
Most patients are extremely satisfied with the results
and experience very few unfavorable side effects. No preliminary
skin test is required so Botox may be used at your first
office visit.

Collagen
Collagen
is actually part of the natural support structure of your
skin. Wrinkles form when this natural collagen thins.
This loss is mostly a factor of aging, but sun exposure,
smoking, health, heredity and lifestyle also play roles.
Without enough collagen, wrinkles and lines start to form
wherever the skin moves. Collagen therapy replenishes
the skin's collagen layer, smoothing lines and wrinkles,
and adding definition to lip border from the inside out.
Results are immediate and is used often to fill in facial
folds and creases and to make the lips fuller and more
attractive.
Four
injectable collagen products are available(Zyplast, Zyderm,
cosmoplast and cosmoderm). Zyplast and Zyderm are animal
derived so a preliminary skin test in the forearm skin
is required to detect the occasional allergy. Cosmoderm
and CosmoPlast are human derived so no skin test is necessary.
CosmoPlast
and Zyplast collagen are natural product are injected
just under the surface of the skin. Like your own collagen,
your body eventually absorbs this collagen so ongoing
treatments are necessary to maintain results. If you discontinue
treatments, the new collagen is simply reabsorbed and
your face gradually returns to its natural contours.
Most
people return to work the same day. People absorb collagen
at varying rates, but treatments generally last 3-6 months.

Corporation before the product was released for general
use by other physicians. Accordingly, Dr. Davidson has
a great deal of experience with this product.
About
Restylane
Restylane
is a biodegradable gel based on hyaluronic acid, a natural
substance which is already found in your skin and joint
fluid. Restylane is used for filling in facial folds and
wrinkles and for lip enhancement and enlargement and is
an alternative to Zyplast and CosmoPlast.
Because
no skin test is required, Restylane may be injected at
your first visit to Dr. Davidson's office resulting in
an immediate improvement. Typically, Restylane lasts 6-12
months, although the duration varies from one patient
to another.
